NASHVILLE BOUTIQUE RETROPOLITAN TO HOST FIRST PUBLIC ART EXHIBIT ON DECEMBER 5

"Art in the Evening" to Showcase Local Artists

NASHVILLE - On December 5, 2009, Nashville modern eclectic home furnishings boutique Retropolitan will host "Art in the Evening", its first art exhibit showcasing works by local artists.

This free public event will feature paintings by Nashville artists Scott Moore, Gene Miller and Tony Armani. Retropolitan owner Amy Heimermann says promoting local artists has always been a part of her business plan, because it benefits everyone involved.

"Working with and promoting local artists from my retail space is exciting because it not only promotes local culture and talent," Heimermann says, "but it also puts great art pieces and commission resourcs in my hands for my customers' design projects. I enjoy being the connecting point between an artist's work and a buyer who is completely moved by it."
All of the featured artists have other art-related careers. Scott Moore is currently a production designer for the Nashville film community, and has a background in visual merchandising and retail space planning. Gene Miller is a professional musician who has found success with commissioned paintings for local residents, most notably Amy Grant. Tony Armani is a popular hair stylist and clothing designer who also released an independent full-length LP in 2007.

Retropolitan wil continue to carry their artwork after the event.

"Art in the Evening" will take place at Retropolitan on December 5, from 7pm - 9pm. Holiday refreshments will be served. Retropolitan is located at 1813 21st Ave. South in Nashville's Hillsboro Village. For more information on this event, call 615.383.3455.

ParentalRights.Org Appoints Nashvillian Dr. Eric Potter TN Spokesperson

Announcement Coincides with Introduction of Parental Rights Amendment Bill
ParentalRights.org, a national group that aims to secure the passing of a constitutional amendment to protect parents’ rights, has appointed Nashvillian Dr. Eric Potter as its Tennessee spokesperson. Dr. Potter will oversee the organization’s campaign efforts throughout the state.

The announcement coincides with the introduction of a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to create a constitutional amendment that would explicitly protect parents’ rights from government intrusion. Congressman Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), the lead sponsor of the bill, introduced it in the House on March 31, 2009. ParentalRights.org is advocating the bill's passage, and has been working to gain Congressional support. To date, 72 other Congressional leaders have joined in co-sponsoring the bill, including Tennessee Representatives Marsha Blackburn, David Roe, and Zach Wamp.

Dr. Potter will coordinate grassroots awareness events for ParentalRights.org throughout Tennessee, and will meet with parent groups, various school groups, churches, and state government leaders. He is organizing a rally at the state capital building that is tentatively scheduled for mid-July.

A concerned parent, Dr. Potter joined ParentalRights.org because he realized how different families across the nation would become if the right to raise their children were infringed upon by the federal government.

“The right of parents to raise their children has been a part of our nation’s heritage for over 200 years,” he says. “We cannot stand idly by and watch this right be taken from parents who are lovingly nurturing their children in the very values which made our nation great.”

Dr. Potter will be based in Nashville, but will travel throughout Tennessee in the coming months to promote the proposed constitutional amendment. He can be reached at 615-714-0002.

ABOUT PARENTALRIGHTS.ORG
ParentalRights.org exists to secure a constitutional amendment that defends the rights of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children. Without the amendment, the vital child-parent relationship is exposed to imminent danger posed by anti-parent judges within the federal courts and to the risks of international law which seeks to undermine the parental role. The Parental Rights Amendment will ensure that parental rights are preserved as a fundamental constitutional right and the special child-parent relationship is protected and secured for generations to come.
